Forms of participation
The conference program includes presentations of fundamental and applied research topics from all fields of psychology in the following forms:
- Symposia: at least four and a maximum of five papers by authors related to a common topic or a series of studies, convened by a symposium organizer.
- Oral presentations: presentation of a single study or topic.
- Poster presentations: presentations that enable a short interaction between authors and participants.
- Panel discussion: a discussion of three to five experts on a relevant professional or research topic.
Presentation preparation guidelines
Symposium preparation
The duration of a symposium is limited to 90 minutes. Each symposium should have an organizer. At the very beginning, the organizer gives a 5-minute introduction, followed by four to five presentations, each lasting 10 minutes, after which the organizer provides a 5-minute conclusion. At the end of each symposium, there is a 15-minute discussion moderated by the symposium organizer, which should include the application of the presented results in practice.
The symposium organizer submits an abstract of the symposium and all individual presentation abstracts. The symposium abstract should also include a brief description of the topics that will be covered in the final discussion.
Oral Presentation preparation
The duration of the oral presentation is limited to 10 minutes, followed by a 5-minute discussion.
A presentation template is available and we invite anyone who is interested to use this template in preparing their conference presentations.
Poster preparation
Posters in the poster section will be displayed on free-standing vertical panels (90 cm wide x 120 cm high). Each poster should include a brief abstract, introduction, methodology, results, and conclusion.
At least one presenter must be present at each poster throughout the entire 90-minute session, provide a 5-minute overview of their research to the Poster Evaluation Committee, and be ready to answer participants’ questions .
During this year’s Bujas Psychology Days, the Poster Evaluation Committee will visit all posters and select the best one. The authors of the best poster will be announced at the conference closing ceremony on Saturday and will receive an award.
Authors may display their posters on the panels no earlier than 30 minutes before the scheduled start of the poster session. Supplies for attaching the posters will be provided. After the session, authors should remove their posters. Posters not collected will be stored at the Department of Psychology until the end of the conference.
Panel Discussion preparation
A panel discussion gathers three to five experts who will discuss relevant professional or scientific topics. In line with the main theme of the conference, we encourage the selection of content that connects science and practical application. The duration of the panel discussion is 90 minutes.
Instructions for abstract submission
On the application form, you must first select the type of submission you are making: oral or poster presentation. If you are submitting an oral presentation, the type of oral presentation (individual oral presentation, symposium, oral presentation within a symposium, panel discussion) must be indicated in the next step.
Abstracts should be written in Croatian or English. Abstracts in which the written text substantially deviates from the standards of the chosen language will not be considered for review.
Abstracts should be between 1600 and 2000 characters (with spaces), not including the abstract title, author(s) and author(s) affiliation.
Abstracts for oral presentations and posters should be submitted only by the presenting author. Abstracts should include a clearly stated objective and/or research problem, methodology and main findings, along with a short discussion.
Abstracts should be written in Croatian or English. Abstracts in which the written text substantially deviates from the standards of the chosen language will not be considered for review.
Symposium abstracts and abstracts for presentations within a symposium are submitted by the organizer/convenor of the symposium.
The abstracts of individual papers within the symposium should include the title of the symposium and should be written in accordance with the above-described guidelines for abstracts of oral and poster presentations.
All symposia must have a minimum of four and a maximum of five papers.
Abstracts for panel discussions should be submitted by the organizer/convenor of the panel, while the panel discussion participants do not have to submit a proposal. Abstracts for panel discussions must include a description of the discussion topics as well as the full names of the panel convenor and all participants.
The procedure for the submission of a symposium and abstracts within the symposium is as follows:
1. The symposium convenor should first complete a symposium proposal.
- Select the type of oral presentation: Symposium,
- Enter the symposium convenor’s name and e-mail address as the contact person,
- Under ‘title of paper’, enter the name of the symposium,
- Under ‘authors’, enter the name and institutional affiliation of the symposium convenor,
- Provide an abstract for the symposium as a whole (the names of all authors who will present their work in the proposed symposium should be included in this abstract)
2. Next, the symposium convenor should individually submit each work included in the symposium as a separate submission (using a new submission form for each individual work). For each new submission.
- Select the type of oral participation: Oral presentation within a symposium,
- Enter the symposium convenor’s name and e-mail address as the contact person,
- Under ‘title of paper’, enter the title of the individual work within the symposium,
- Under ‘authors’, enter the names and institutional affiliations of all authors named on the individual work,
- Provide an abstract for the individual work (this should include the title of the symposium of which this work is a part)
3. The procedure outlined in point 2 should be repeated by the symposium convenor for each individual paper included in the symposium.
While we aim to provide an opportunity for as many authors to present their work as possible, the number of presentation spaces is limited. As such, an individual may be the first author on only one paper and a co-author on a maximum of two additional papers.
The deadline for the submission of proposals is February 3rd, 2025. After this deadline, no further submissions will be accepted. The Program Committee will review all submitted abstracts. Decisions regarding acceptance will be sent to the corresponding author by March 5th, 2025. Only abstracts of authors who have paid the registration fee by March 20th, 2025 will be scheduled for presentation and included in the Book of Abstracts.
